Mahdi Babaee

Associate Director, National Net Zero Lead (Structures)


Mahdi Babaee

Mahdi is an Associate Director and the Net Zero National Structural Lead with WSP. He holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in low-carbon concretes and has more than 17 years of consulting and academic experience.

Madhi is an advocate of employing sustainable materials and structural design optimisation methods in the consulting and construction industry. A leader in the transition to net zero carbon, Mahdi is well-recognised for his pioneering works on developing low-embodied-carbon concretes such as geopolymers.

Winning the 2019 National Award from CIA Australia, his published research is significantly influencing models and concrete standards in Australia and around the world.
